DENOTES IT WAS BUILT THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE, 1969, AT THE NORWOOD PLANT. THE
FIRST INDICATION OF IT'S RARITY IS THE "63" PAINT CODE (CHAMPAGNE) WHICH COULD
ONLY BE HAD AS A "SPECIAL ORDER" FROM THE NORWOOD PLANT.

WHILE THE "X66" DESIGNATES "BASE CAR WITH 396" VERY FEW BIG BLOCK CARS CAME WITH
THE "D80" REAR SPOILER REGULAR PRODUCTION OPTION ON THE TRIM TAG. WHEN YOU ADD
ON THE "VE3" ENDURO FRONT BUMPER AND "A31" POWER WINDOWS OPTIONS, YOU START TO
REALIZE THIS CAR IS NOT JUST YOUR RUN-OF-THE-MILL BIG BLOCK CAMARO. WAIT, IT
GETS BETTER...

20 YEARS AGO, MUSCLE CAR OWNERS WEREN'T CONCERNED WITH WHAT BOOK VALUE WOULD BE
IN THE NEXT CENTURY. WE WERE HAVING TO MUCH FUN & WANTED TO GO FASTER.
CONSEQUENTLY, THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS AUTOMOTIVE ROCKET, DURING THE
RESTORATION, HAD THE BLOCK DECKED. HOWEVER, THE
ALUMINUM
"L89" CYLINDER HEADS REMAIN INTACT. THESE AWESOME "842" CASTINGS WERE
SPECIFIED ONLY WHEN THE 1969 "L89" OPTION WAS ORDERED.

ONLY 311 "L89" CARS WERE EVER PRODUCED. THE 4 BOLT MAIN 396 ENGINE HAS BEEN
PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT USING AN INTERNALLY BALANCED 427 CRANKSHAFT. SOLID LIFTER
MOTOR FEATURES A WINTERS ALUMINUM INTAKE & HOLLEY CARB. BRAND NEW FLOWMASTER
CHAMBERED EXHAUST WITH "H" PIPE.

INTERIOR IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION. UNIQUELY OPTIONED COLUMN SHIFTED AUTOMATIC
TH400 TRANSMISSION. FACTORY TINTED POWER WINDOWS. ROSEWOOD STEERING WHEEL.

SANDED AND POLISHED WHEN RESTORED. OVERALL, THE FINISH IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
OTHER THAN A FEW MINOR CHIPS AND
ONE
BLEMISH. RUST IS NOT AN ISSUE.

AS STATED EARLIER, THIS CAR IS ABSOLUTELY FEROCIOUS. YOU NEED A VERY LONG
STRETCH OF ROAD AND A SERIOUS SENSE OF ADVENTURE TO OPEN IT UP. IT NEVER STOPS
PULLING. STARTS RIGHT UP & IDLES SMOOTHLY. DRIVES STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW AND STOPS
ON A DIME.
WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF A BUILD SHEET AND/OR BLOCK VIN ID, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO 100% VERIFY THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE 311 L89's PRODUCED. HOWEVER, TAKING ALL THE OTHER ELEMENTS INTO CONSIDERATION, IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THIS CAMARO IS ANYTHING OTHER THAN A VERY RARE & HIGHLY OPTIONED BIG BLOCK CAR THAT WAS SPECIALLY ORDERED WITH SPEED IN MIND. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A CAMARO OF THIS CALIBER? PROBABLY THE LAST TIME YOU SAW AN L89!
