PRODUCING 657hp, THE CAMMER 427 WAS INSTALLED IN ONLY A FEW COPIES AS IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE
ON THE STREET. LATER BANNED BY NASCAR, FORD STOPPED PRODUCTION. IN 1960, FORD WITHDREW THEIR SUPPORT
FOR THE AMA's FOUR YEAR BAN ON STOCK CAR RACING AND GOT SERIOUS WITH PERFORMANCE FOR 1961. THEY
PROMPTLY SHOWED UP AT DAYTONA WITH A 390ci/360hp GALAXIE THAT RAN 40 LAPS AT AN AVERAGE OF 142mph.

1962 WAS AN EXCITING YEAR FOR THE GALAXIE. THIS NEW MODEL INTRODUCED A DISTINCTIVE NEW GRILL, TRIM AND FEATURED STUNNING GOLD & CHROME PLATED FENDER TOP ORNAMENTS, EXCLUSIVE TO THIS YEAR ONLY. THESE NEW GALAXIE's WERE BUILT MORE LUXURIOUS THAN BEFORE & OFFERED SOME OF THE CLEANEST STYLING AVAILABLE IN 1962.
